Build a safer Venmo QR destination
Venmo links are payment-adjacent, so treat the destination and surrounding copy as part of the security check.
Verify the profile first
Open the Venmo link on a phone and confirm the recipient name, username, avatar, and fallback browser behavior before generating the QR code.
Add visible fallback text
Print the Venmo handle, business name, or payment instruction beside the QR code so scanners can verify where they are sending money.
Keep sensitive details out
Do not encode bank details, passwords, private notes, customer records, or unsupported parameters in the QR payload.
Separate tracking from payment links
If you need analytics, use a landing page you control before the payment action instead of modifying Venmo URLs in unsupported ways.

Payment QR codes are often scanned from counters, stickers, receipts, and event displays, so proofing matters.
